Who Are We?
Sign Net is an innovative new computer outreach training program serving Maine’s Deaf community. The program aims to serve people in rural areas of Maine through a simple 10 week curriculum. The classes will improve people’s access to independent living services and resources in the community. Courses will be led by John Dunleavy, a veteran American Sign Language and computer studies instructor.
Through our mobile classrooms, Sign Net will deliver assistive technology education to all areas of Maine. The program will also provide methods of obtaining and distributing low-cost computers to persons who are Deaf. See you on the road!
Sign Net is a statewide program. Our mobile classroom will be traveling from our base in South Portland to all points in Maine. Our aim is to provide classes for some of the most rural, and until now, inaccessible parts of the state. Looking forward to meeting you on the road!
