AMI Releases Original Documentary Series on Canada's Paralympic Athletes
With the 2014 Paralympics just around the corner, Accessible Media Inc. is proud to air a three-part original documentary profiling eight of Canada's top Paralympic athletes in Milestones of Champions: The Journeys of Canada's Paralympians.
Each episode provides an intimate look at the lives of some of the nation's top Paralympic athletes on their respective paths to the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia from March 7 to 16. The audience will gain insight into the major challenges the athletes have experienced throughout their lives, and how they overcame them on their journey to the Games.
"In keeping with the spirit of inclusion we are honoured to tell the amazing stories of our Paralympians," says John Melville, Vice-President of Programming and Production at AMI. "Each athlete has a unique story to tell, filled with hardships and triumphs. We hope our audience is inspired by all that these dedicated individuals have accomplished on their way to Sochi."
Episode one features the journeys of three veterans of Parasport: world champion para-snowboarder Tyler Mosher, nine-time Paralympian and multi-medalist Colette Bourgonje and decorated para-alpine skier Chris Williamson.
Next, episode two profiles Paralympic cross-country skier Brian McKeever, the first athlete to be named to both the Paralympic and Olympic team in the same winter games in 2010, master sit-skier Josh Dueck, and Sonja Gaudet, Canada's most decorated wheelchair curler.
Finally, episode three focuses on Canada's sledge hockey team, who will be looking for redemption in Sochi after a disappointing fourth place finish in 2010. Veteran and team captain Greg Westlake shares his story along with newcomer and standout forward Dominic Larocque.
Episode one of Milestones of Champions: The Journey of Canada's Paralympians premieres on Wednesday, February 12 at 7 pm ET, followed by episode two on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 pm ET. The series concludes with episode three on Wednesday, February 26 at 7 pm ET.
